The original idea is attributed to a surfer named Shawn Studs. He is credited with starting a new concept in T-shirts with a tag on them. The idea caught the fancy of the new generation in a big way and soon became a must-have fashion element among a vast majority of youngsters in the U.S.

Men’s street wear can be either casual or classic. Jeans and T-shirts has been the conventional casual street wear but the choices are expanding rapidly to incorporate many more clothing designs and ideas. For the ladies, street wear means integrating a lot many special styles than men and includes dresses, shorts, slacks, skirts and slack suits.

Street wear is used to depict clothing enthused by the street lifestyle and often includes urban themes. Graffiti and depiction of life on the streets in the inner city is very common. While T-shirts and trousers are still common in the main place fashion world, it is their styling and design that separates them from the main fashion trend of the time. Rips, pockets and innovative distinctive design give them that typical street wear identity.

Though it has its roots in the hip-hop culture, the street wear has a designing pattern of its own and does not copy everything from pop fashion. This new trend of fashion is popular because it gives the youth a choice of wearing something different that the same bored look that the in-trend fashion tends to get after a few months or years.

Street wear is much more innovative and colorful. As compared to early years, the quality is getting better and better. The demand is also growing rapidly and is available in almost all online shopping stores and malls.
